MURDER MYSTERY AT THE ARTS CENTER IN AUGUST
This summer in the Spa City, The Creative Place International (CPI), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing exciting cultural resources in Saratoga Springs will present THE SOUND OF MURDER by William Fairchild, a whodunit in the fine British (Agatha Christie) tradition.
A performance of THE SOUND OF MURDER to benefit The Saratoga County Children’s Committee will be presented Thursday, August 28 at 8 pm in the Dee Sarno Theater at The Arts Center at 320 Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs. Reserve tickets at 518 584-7780 or online at brownpapertickets.com, search Sound of Murder. All seats $25. One half of all box office receipts go to The Saratoga County Children’s Committee!
Directed by Tony Award winner Ron Holgate of Saratoga, the play features a writer of popular children’s stories who has a decidedly dark side. When his wife asks for a divorce, he adamantly refuses for selfish reasons. The story spirals down to a thrilling and surprising conclusion involving the wife’s lover, the author’s secretary, the police and a voice recorder. The final moments of this mystery will have audiences on the edge of their seats. Adult content.
Last August, SCCC was a box office beneficiary when The Creative Place International presented SARATOGA CHIPS, by Saratoga playwright Mary Jane Hansen, revisiting the Spa City’s colorful history during the time of the Civil War when the Saratoga Race Course was founded. Acclaimed by Arts Center audiences, the play was an entertaining theatrical adventure, combining history, comedy and music from Saratoga’s Victorian era and featuring many of the personalities of the time, including Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt, Mark Twain, Madame Jumel, Saratoga Track Founder John Morrissey and President Ulysses S. Grant.
Continuing its tradition of sharing the proceeds of performances with several area charities, CPI distributed over $4,000 to six different charities last year.
